Datashift training for businesses users is a set of workshops that will introduce participants with “self-service BI” and enable themto create a BI system that will meet their needs for reporting.

Training is divided in a couple of units:

Theory basics

Introduces student with Excel and provides him with an insight into the basics of reporting and the quality of data visualization.

Reporting based on Excel

Based on a range of Microsoft free plug-ins and standalone tools which facilitate reporting in the standard table view (reporting using POWER PIVOT), retrieve and preparation of data for reporting (MS POWER QUERY) and facilitates creating real-life reporting system and corporate reporting system based on dashboards (control panels) with the use of MS POWER BI tool.

Research and analytics

Focuses on the use of statistics for the purpose of forecast, sales and customer behavior prediction. It is comprised of theoretical introduction intended for users of non-mathematical education and practical exercises using MS Excel.

Automatization in Excel

Includes everything that „can’t be done manually“and is based on several MS Excel tools from VBA and macros to POWERQUERY usage.

Enterprise reporting

Based on industry leading software for data visualization  –  Tableau (other common enterprise solutions like Oracle based OBIEE, MS Reporting Services or Cognos are more IT than business users oriented and are covered in IT education).

Training courses included in programme “Training for businesses users” are:

• Basic rules for creating reports, charts and data visualization

Workshop objective is to introduce students with Microsoft BI tools and Tableau for the Data Visualization. Through a series of exercises and tasks, student will master the basic functionality of these tools and make a series of reports and exercises.

• Reporting using Power Pivot

Objective of this workshop is to introduce students with the concept of modeling tables in star schemas to optimize reporting needs and principles of POWERPIVOT connectivity with external systems, as well as with import of data into POWERPIVOT by combining a variety of data sources (Excel, databases and so on). Student will be able to write the most important formulas for creating reports and analysis. Also, they will see the typical use of POWERPIVOT for analyzes and reports that are most commonly used in controlling.

• PowerQuery

At the end of the workshop, students are familiar with the concept of PowerQuery tool, how to capture PowerQuery steps, and how to easily modify taken steps. The main goal of this workshop is to master the PowerQuery tool to help automation of the repetitive tasks.

• Advanced Excel course

At the end of the workshop students are introduced to the advanced concepts of MS Excel; they will be able to merge multiple tables, create reports using pivot and find out what they are interested in by analyzing data.

• VBA – Visual basic – Programming in Excel

Participants get familiar with the introduction to programming, basic concepts, Excel macros, capturing and editing macros in the VB editor, creating Excel applications, connecting to Excel databases, concept of database reporting within Excel.

• Power BI

This workshop elaborates the following topics: the concept of Power BI data preparation, data import, data model design and data analysis and how to select the right visualization technique for message transfer.

• Statistics basics for non-mathematicians

The aim of the workshop is to provide non-mathematicians an introduction to statistical analysis of data. Students will get the theoretical background and will use SPSS Statistics, one of the most commonly used tools in statistical analysis, to independently make exercises and examples.

• Tableau

Leading tool for analyzing and visualizing data. There are two workshops that are Tableau oriented, Basic Tableau training and advanced Tableau visualization methods. First covers standard loading data to Tableau, and creating reports and combining them to dashboards and the other is more focused on how to create right visualization and storytelling with data.

• Advanced Excel

Better understanding of formulas such as vlookup, sumif(s), exact, eomonth, PV, PMT, and others, working with graphs, nested functions, pivot table advanced options, filtering and sorting, error handling, and so on…

a) Excel for reporting

Using Power BI and power Query – solves the problem for very large datasets, typical extension to pivot tables, using power query to automate loading and preparing data for reporting.

After this program, participants will know how to handle database operations and how to create a BI and DWH system. The program is intended for employees who are only becoming part of the BI/DWH team or those who want to expand their knowledge in this area.

Program for IT consultants includes following training courses:

• SQL basics

Student acquires basic knowledge of SQL, language for managing data in databases.

• ODI 12c

Workshop objective is to introduce students with Microsoft BI tools and Tableau for the Data Visualization. Through a series of exercises and tasks, student will master the basic functionality of these tools and make a series of reports and exercises.

• OBIEE 11/12: 1 – Infrastructure and Repository

Workshop covers the entire process of installing the OBIEE environment and the repository, explained the OBIEE reporting system components, and covers the process of OBIEE system boot and shutdown, as well as the basics of troubleshooting. The workshop also includes RPD work, provides insights into the basics of the system’s rights and row-security models, and is also covered by the most important calculations in the middle layer (such as AGO, etc.).

• Basic rules for creating reports, charts and data visualization

Workshops is focused on report and dashboard design using Oracle OBIEE tools.

• Enterprise reporting

Based on industry leading software for data visualization  –  Tableau (other common enterprise solutions like Oracle based OBIEE, MS Reporting Services or Cognos are more IT than business users oriented and are covered in IT education).

Data Scientist program was designed to present the most relevant knowledge needed for the role of a data scientist. Data scientist role implies work with large sets of data as well as know-how of the statistical models and how to use them in a business environment and according to business needs. This program requires good knowledge of SQL and at least one programming language for predictive analytics (for example R or Python). Since the analyzed data should be adequately presented, within the program, the student will master the tools for visual presentation and reporting.

The program contains four main modules:

• Preparing data for analysis – Introduction to database operation

The module provides basic knowledge about data manipulation in databases. At the end of the module the student will be familiar with the preparation of the data necessary for analysis and concepts of querying databases. The focus of the module is on exercises, on which student through various situations from practice, solves problems using the SQL language.

• Statistics Basics for Non-Mathematicians

The objective of the module is to explain the purpose and usability of statistics in economics and other sciences, through a series of examples from everyday business and scientific practice. This module is the basis for understanding the statistical analysis of data and is intended for people who know mathematics and statistics at the basic level. Focus is on exercises with the SPSS Statistics programming tool.

• Business statistical analysis using the program “R”

The third module introduces students to the programming language R, currently one of the leading languages for statistics and data science. Predictive and statistical analyzes are presented through a “case study” in which the student can see how prediction methods were applied on certain business process and how the results of the calculation were interpreted at the end. Through number of exercises the student gets familiar with the development environment and the basic types of data necessary for work in the programming language.

• Displaying analysis results and data visualization

The module’s objective is to train students how to make visual presentation of data and visual exploration of data. Exercises are performed on the Microsoft platform as part of MS Excel, and as such, has a significant base of potential users, and on Tableau, the leading tool in the visualization and a visual exploration of data.
